Working With The Garage Wall Storage

posted on 2 March 2011

By getting a garage wall storage, you are saving yourself a lot of time and hassle when it comes to fixing up and cleaning up your garage. Let’s face it one of the dirtiest and most disorganized part of the house is probably the garage. It is a place that holds a lot of old and discarded items that are still usable but can no longer fit inside the house. That is why we opt to put it outside the central part of the house and leave it lying around in the garage. However, after a few years of doing this, all of these small and little items eventually pile up to become a very huge mess. So just what can we do to solve this problem? The answer is simple, get a wall mounted storage device that fits perfectly in the garage. Since it is wall mounted, the items can be put on shelves above the ground which can free up tons of walking space and is really ideal for those small items that you just can’t seem to get rid of.

Ditch That Small Galley Kitchen

posted on 18 February 2011

I have a great 1 1/2 storey farmhouse sitting on a beautiful hill in Tennessee with awesome views all around - the absolute center of peace and tranquility. I have some pop up marquees and a barbeque setup there and love to hold outdoor parties when I get the chance. All well and good, only there's one small problem. My farmhouse has a very small galley kitchen. We've worked hard for everything we have and don't have a lot of extra money just floating around, but if we did, I would ditch that galley kitchen and build me a new one on the other side of the house. First thing to be done would be to move the ac units farther toward the back of the house because they are right where the new kitchen needs to be. Our land elevates higher on that side of our house so it would either need to be leveled out or we could leave it as is and build the kitchen higher up with a step or two going up to it, which is what I would prefer. Then we could build the dining room in the front connecting to the new L shaped kitchen with a large breakfast bar island. The steps would take you straight up to the dining room from the living room, then take a left to go into the spacious open kitchen. The back of the living room fireplace would be exposed to the kitchen. I just love exposed brick inside of a house, don't you? Now, what do I do with that small galley kitchen? Well, I think it would make a perfect home office, with a few modifications of course. A desk top for a computer could be put where the refrigerator used to be and of course new counter tops would have to be installed to cover where the sink and cooktop were removed. Open shelves would replace the built-in oven and microwave and the old pots and pans drawers would make perfect file drawers. The opening left from the dishwasher could just be extra desktop space with a counter height stool. The only thing left to do would be a wall to separate the old dining room from the living room for privacy. Add a couple of chairs or a love seat and a small table in that old dining room and you have the perfect place to kick back and read a good book. We would finally have the perfect house, at least for now.
